Union: This position is included in the Teamsters Local Union 249 bargaining unit and will be filled in accordance with the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

* Loads a solid waste/recycling truck, collects refuse (i.e. household, bulk or recycling) and empties containers on designated City routes.
* Carries, lifts and loads solid waste (weighing between 75 to 100 lbs.) into truck daily.
* Replaces refuse containers and lids; ensures that surrounding areas are clean of debris.
* Maintains accurate records on equipment and refuse/recycling routes.
* Cleans and maintains cab area of truck, ejection blade(s) and sweep blade(s).
* Observes proper safety precautions and policies.
* Receives complaints/requests from residents and refers them to assigned Foreman/Refuse Collection Supervisor.
* Assists driver with the safe operation of the vehicle (i.e. assist the driver backing up vehicle, assist in narrow areas).
* Performs activities and functions of related lower-level personnel and other related tasks/duties as assigned or required.
