Job SummaryProvides a range of clinical, administrative, and staff support to the dental department. Assists in the performance of dental and radiography procedures; prepares and maintains dental equipment and supplies in accordance with established protocol, procedures, policies and standards, and assist in the coordination of day-to-day patient administration, records management, and office support activities. Responsible for a variety of patient care, office and laboratory duties, and assisting the Oral Surgeon with exams and treating of patients.Skills1. Possesses effective verbal and listening communication skills.2. Effective oral and written communication skills.3. Ability to work as a team member within a clinical environment.4. Strong time and stress management skills.5. Strong analytical, decision making and problem solving skills.6. Knowledge of the medical and dental field, as well as sterile and aseptic technique and standard precautions.7. Record maintenance skills.8. Skill and ability to concentrate and monitor instrument, sharps, and sponge counts.9. Knowledge of sterile procedures.10. Ability to set up and prepare dental equipment and instrumentation in accordance with established regulations and guidelines.11. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.12. Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control.13. Knowledge of patient evaluation and triage procedures.14. Knowledge of radiation safety procedures and standards and protocols.15. Ability to develop and process dental radiographs.16. Ability to follow and accept directions.Work ExperiencePrevious dental assistant experience preferred. Clerical experience preferred.License/Registration/CertificationRegistration with the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners required.Dental assistant certification required.Dental Anesthesia Assistant National Certification preferred.Current CPR training program.Education and TrainingGraduate of dental assistant school.
