Job Description:
National Jewish Health, a 125-year-old non-profit and world leader in respiratory, immune, and cardiac care, is seeking a dynamic Regional Director of Special Events to lead fundraising and event efforts in the New York region. For over 56 years, the organization's Real Estate and Construction Industries annual gala has been a cornerstone event, raising more than $57 million over three decades, including $2.5 million at the most recent event. This role oversees all aspects of event planning, logistics, and fundraising in collaboration with passionate volunteer leadership and the Denver-based Associate Vice President of Events. The Regional Director reports to the Associate Vice President of the Eastern region and will supervise a team of three, strategize to grow the regional event portfolio, and ensure exceptional donor experiences that inspire support for the institution's groundbreaking mission. Ideal candidates will have a minimum of five years of experience in event planning and fundraising, strong management skills with at least three years of team leadership experience, and a proven ability to work effectively with volunteer leaders.   • Position SummaryTo plan, execute and oversee logistics and fundraising for events in the region. To identify, cultivate and solicit event donors, honorees and committee prospects to lay strategies for event fundraising and assist with regional fundraising activities as needed.Essential Duties
  • Responsible for creating fundraising strategy, managing event logistics and implementing all details for assigned events.
  • Develops strategies to meet or exceed all budgeted revenue goals in coordination with AVP Events.
  • Oversees all event fundraising activity in the region.
  • Supervises regional events staff.
  • Develops and cultivates relationships with Regional Trustees and event leadership.
  • Assists as needed with planning other events that are created. Operates and produces events within approved cost of fundraising.
  • Documents all donor contacts in compliance with National Jewish Development procedures. Maintains donor files and accounts as assigned to them.
  • Acts as an institutional representative with National Jewish public.
  • Develops plans for securing gifts (key event sponsors) from new sources.
  • Performs other related duties, including special projects, as required or assigned.
  • Performs as back up to staff absences and vacancies as necessary.

  • Performs, as directed, safety compliance and uses Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), as needed.
  • Participates in Quality Assessment (QA) and Quality Improvement (QI) programs, as directed.
  • Ensures compliance with The Joint Commission and all other Federal, State and Regulatory Agencies.

  • Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor degree in related field required. Additional training in development and non-profit management preferred.
  • Work Experience: A minimum of 5 years fundraising or related experience required.
