The NCDAC / Support Services / Regional Maintenance is recruiting for an energized and collaborative oriented Network Technician to be a part of the South-Central Region Maintenance Team. This position reports to the South-Central Region Maintenance Yard located in Asheboro, NC and will be tasked with supporting the electronics preventative maintenance team with like-in-kind Force Account system replacements. A successful candidate for this position, shall have working level experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of data processing equipment and software; be able to work independently to complete work assignments received by a supervisor; read and interpret blueprints; and perform other assigned duties.
This position has a duty station of Asheboro, NC and requires the successful candidate to commute daily to South-Central Region Maintenance Yard or other agreed upon location to retrieve the State assigned work vehicle. This State-Owned work vehicle for standard business use and overnight stays when required. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits. The work schedule is Monday - Friday and may require some overnight travel to meet the demands of the organization.

The salary grade for this position is DT03. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.
* Demonstrated experience with data processing equipment, protocols, and software.
* Demonstrated experience in the methods and procedures for the installation and maintenance of data communications equipment.
* Demonstrated experience with standard test equipment to diagnose network software tools.
Management Preferences:
* Demonstrated experience reading and interpreting construction plans and specifications.
High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and one year of IT experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Education Services has established partnerships with more than two-thirds of the state's community colleges, as well as with many post-secondary institutions including the University of North Carolina system as well as some private colleges. Funding for education in prisons is provided through varied sources, including non-profit foundation grants, donations from individuals, Federal Second Chance Pell grants, and the General Assembly.
