Basic Function: A Registered Behavior TechnicianTM (RBT) practices under the close, ongoing
supervision of a BCBA and will work collaboratively with special education teams. The RBT is
primarily responsible for the direct implementation of behavior-analytic services.
Required Qualifications:
? Willing to participate in 40 hours of training
? Willing to participate in competency based assessments.
? Willing to travel 60-90 miles to complete the computer based RBT assessment.
? Functional understanding of Excel and data collection
? General understanding of public school structures
? General understanding of Individual Education Programs and IDEA
Preferred Qualifications:
? Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, applied behavior analysis
? Experience using applied behavior principles and/or working with individuals with developmental
disabilities
? Strong knowledge of Excel including data collection and graphing methods.
? Working knowledge of preschool through 12th grade academic content and subject matter.
? Strong knowledge of appropriate social skills by age and grade
? Strong understanding of Individual Education Programs and IDEA.
Position Responsibilities:
The individual hired must be able to:
? Serve as a member of a multidisciplinary special education team/IEP team including student's
family/guardian, District, AEA and outside providers when appropriate.
? Report directly to BCBA supervisor and special education case manager on a regular basis.
? Operate within the parameters of HIPPA, FERRPA, BACB Code of Ethics, IDEA and the school
district policies on confidentiality.
? Work across schools and classrooms with regular and special education teachers as assigned.
? Provide direct behavior supports to students in 1:1 and group settings.
? Implement student behavior intervention plans (BIP), educational plans, and activities of daily
living under the supervision of the BCBA and special education case manager, to assist students
with utilizing appropriate social skills and decreasing maladaptive behaviors, social skill
development and/or managing maladaptive behaviors
? Records quality behavioral data to monitor individual's progress and report any progress or
regression in attaining objectives of educational plans to the BCBA and special education case
manager.
? Use Excel and other data recording software effectively and efficiently
? Use data to make instructional decisions on a daily basis
? Effectively communicate orally and in writing
? Ability to develop rapport with students, families and other school personnel.
? Daily communication with IEP team members (parents, school staff, outside providers as
appropriate with consideration of HIPPA, FERRPA, BACB Code of Ethics and IDEA)
? Assist school staff in the handling, operation, and care of equipment used in the classroom,
including media and instructional materials, assistive technology, augmentative communication
devices.
? Assist with daily living needs, such as feeding and bathroom accommodations according to
students' educational plans.
? Ability to remain calm and stay neutral during crisis situations
? Participates in professional development training programs, as required
? Exhibits a clear understanding of the IEP information as it pertains to their role as an implementer.
? Attend regular supervision sessions with supervising BCBA
? Maintain appropriate certifications and trainings as it related to the position
