SUMMARY
Under the general supervision of the building principal and OEC Academic Coordinator- BCBA, Registered Behavior Technician Paraprofessionals are to assist in the education and learning of our students with behavioral and social emotional needs. An incumbent in this classification will evaluate, plan, and implement activities to remediate and compensate for difficulties in social emotional learning skills such as self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationships and responsible decision making that interfere with a student's school performance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Implement behavior intervention and/or behavior intervention plans as written using sound judgment and seeking of appropriate consultation from BCBA as needed
* Accurately and systematically collects data for behavior intervention and behavior intervention planning
* Participate in required supervision with Academic Coordinator- BCBA
* Establishes and maintains a positive relationship with students and staff
* Prompt safe and socially acceptable replacement behaviors including but not limited to communication, social interactions, and problem solving skills
* Educates others on the principles of reinforcement under the supervision of the BCAB
* Collaborates with school based team and family to provide effective treatment within the role and scope of the behavior technician and guidance from the Academic Coordinator BCBA
* Providing direct client care in one-on-one, small group and large group settings
* Following the behavior reduction and behavioral skill acquisition protocols
* Collecting and recording data based on client behavior
* Communicating with clients, parents, and caregivers regarding client progress under the supervision of the BCBA
* Assisting behavior analysts with behavior reduction assessments and skills acquisition
* Assisting behavior analysts in the preparation of client materials
* Under the general supervision of the Classroom Teacher, assist students with special needs in all aspects of the classroom instruction to maximize inclusion and learning.
* Assist students with physical or mental disabilities with daily activities
* Assist students with toilet and/or changing needs.
* Assist students with feeding needs
* Participate in the IEP (Individualized Education Program) process and serve as a resource for the student personnel evaluation team as needed
* May be assigned as a one-on-one paraprofessional for a specific student. Will assist the student with daily needs and support the classroom as needed
* Follows all applicable rules, procedures and regulations governing the proper manner of assistance for all students, including those with disabilities or other special needs
* Maintain certification in verbal de-escalation and crisis intervention
* Maintain Registered Behavior Technician certification per Behavior Analyst Certification Board
* Assist with other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
* Must be a U.S. citizen or have the legal right to work in the U.S.
* Current and valid State of Ohio Educational Aide Permit-Educational Aide (Only for Instructional Paraprofessionals and Special Education Paraprofessionals)
* Must pass Federal and Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation background check in accordance with Ohio Administrative Code Section 3301-83-06
* High School diploma
* Associate's degree from an accredited institution
* ParaPro Exam (if you don't hold an Associate's degree or higher)
* Registered Behavior Technician Certification
PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES/DEMANDS
* Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, hear, see, read, speak, reach, stretch with hands and arms, crouch, kneel, stoop, and climb stairs
* Occasionally lift and/or move lightweight items up to 40 lbs
