  • The Good Shepherd Health Care System offers a unique opportunity for Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs) to work in a multi-setting environment providing Medical Nutrition Therapy to both inpatients and outpatients across the life span with a wide variety of health care needs.
  • As a member of the Good Shepherd Diabetes & Nutrition Center team, the RDN will provide outpatient Medical Nutrition Therapy services to patients of all ages with a wide variety of health concerns. The RDN provides professional nutrition counseling to patients, families, and the community. Coordinates nutrition care plans and advocates for patient nutrition needs amongst the multidisciplinary team. Participates in program and curriculum development, and quality improvement projects. The Diabetes & Nutrition Center proudly maintains certification by the American Diabetes Association for meeting the national standards for Diabetes Self-Management Education services (DSMES). The Diabetes & Nutrition Center has a robust diabetes patient population in which RDNs and/or Certified Diabetes Care & Education Specialists (CDCES) provide comprehensive DSMES to patients with ALL types of diabetes (as credentials allow).
  • In this role, the RDN will also provide Medial Nutrition Therapy to hospital inpatients. Good Shepherd Medical Center is a progressive, critical access hospital providing inpatient treatment for medical, surgical, and intensive care units. The RDN works closely with the departmental and interdisciplinary health care team to provide care that is integrated and compatible with patient-centered outcome goals. Utilizes the Nutrition Care Process and Terminology (NCPT) to assess nutrition status; performs nutrition-focused physical examination, interprets findings, and makes nutrition diagnoses; orders nutrition interventions (labs, oral nutrition supplements, diet orders, TF orders); designs, implements and evaluates outcomes of nutrition care plans for patients who are at risk for, and/or exhibit signs of malnutrition. Provides medical nutrition therapy and professional nutrition counseling to patients, families, and the community.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education:
  • Required : Bachelor's degree in food and nutrition/dietetics, and completion of a dietetic internship accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Preferred : Master's degree in nutrition/dietetics or related field.
Experience:
  • Required : Completion of an accredited dietetic internship.
  • Preferred : At least 1 year of experience as a registered dietitian.
Licenses/Certifications:
  • Required : Registered Dietitian; Licensed Dietitian in Oregon (must be obtained within 60 days of hire); current CPR certification.
  • Preferred : Certified Diabetes Care & Education Specialist, or desire/ability to obtain within 2 years of hire.
