The Registered Dietitian conducts assessments of Weinberg Campus skilled nursing residents. Assesses nutritional needs and implements care plans consistent with diagnoses and dietary needs/restrictions. Promotes nutritional support for enteral nutrition clients. Educates clients and caregivers regarding nutritional needs.Performed under the general supervision of the client's physician. Reports to and works collaboratively with the Clinical Nutrition Manager. Employee interacts and works with the Director of Food Services and other health care professionals. Has access to confidential information as necessary to perform job duties. Employee is expected to respect the right to privacy and security of Protected Health Information (PHI) and Electronic Protected Health Information (EPHI) in accordance with Weinberg Campus Policy and all applicable laws and regulations.
- Conducts initial and periodic nutrition assessments on assigned clients according to developed standards and evidence-based practice.
- Develop and implement client specific nutrition care plans.
- Communicates plan for care to the interdisciplinary team and other individuals with a need to know as described by policy, laws, and regulations.
- Obtain physician orders for care.
- Provides nutrition education and guidance to clients and caregivers.
- Conducts patient education/teaching in areas of enteral nutrition.
- Monitors special diets and nutritional non-compliance.
- Provides updates regarding patient status, effectiveness of plan of care to Director of Food Services, RN case managers, and an interdisciplinary team.
- Document assessments and dietitian notes in the clinical record.
- Frequently work with the frail elderly and/or handicapped clients.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationship with SEIU 1199.
- Communicate and listen effectively in a team setting and individually.

- Read and understand/interpret a variety of correspondence, written materials, data, and policies and procedures.

- High school diploma required
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college with major studies in food and nutrition or dietetics required
- Credentialed with Commission on Dietetic Registration
