Job Type Full-timeDescriptionSUMMARY OF DUTIES: As a Registered Dietitian for FeedMore WNY, you will be responsible for the coordination and provision of all nutrition care services. These services include medical nutrition therapy, malnutrition screening, direct nutrition assessment/counseling, nutrition education, reviewing menus, monitoring of food service and meal delivery to all participants. RESPONSIBILITIES:Plans and evaluates client assessment process, coordinated with Social Work DepartmentDetermines and utilizes appropriate assessment tools and proceduresReviews dietary intake for factors that affect health conditions and nutritional riskReviews medical history and diet history to evaluate for nutrition related concernsAssesses malnutrition and food insecurity status of client and adds service(s) of nutrition supplements, weekend meals and emergency food kit, if neededEvaluates client and family's knowledge, readiness to learn, and potential for changing behaviorsIdentifies, analyzes and evaluates client needs. Develops client care plan. Provides appropriate medical nutrition therapy, counseling, nutrition education and direct client contact through home visits, phone calls & route visits.Documents findings, elicits recommendations, develops educational materials and approaches, proposes and implements needed changesRefers client to other services, if needed. Initiates and maintains affiliations with other health care providers regarding client careMonitors and documents food and equipment temperatures, HACCP, and sanitation for all aspects of food service and site delivery to maintain safetyOversees the cold and hot meal line. Audits temperature, portion control, taste, color, texture, and appearance of menu itemsLocates future menu items and records brand and product dates. Verifies use of correct food items/diets and meal traysAssists with the coordination of service delivery. Delivers meals as neededAnswers phone calls and assists clients, sites and volunteers accordinglyReviews opening and closing of client files. Inputs diet scripts and coordinates with medical providers, when appropriate. Files client recordsPromotes agency programs and nutrition needs through actively participating in professional and community activities.Maintains professional credentials through participation at workshops, conferences, seminars, etc.Assistn with any and all mission work as needed and requested with some or no prior notice including, but not limited to: serving as a truck spotter, helping with FARM Market/Community Garden/Freight Farms/on and off site food distributions, preparation of meals and serving home-delivered mealsPerforms other duties as directed Requirements Registration (RD/RDN) or Registration eligible required by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the American Dietetic Association and New York State certification (CDN) (required post registration). Registration must be completed within six months of appointment to the positionBachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in dietetics, nutrition, foodservice management or related sciencePreference given to work experience in community-based setting, quantity food production and nutrition counselingServ Safe Certification preferredAbility to interact effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, professional experiences and personality typesExcellent written and oral communication, interpersonal skills, organizational and analytical skills and computer skillsCapable of lifting a minimum of 35 lbs.Current and valid NYS driver's license and regular access to an automobile Salary Description $21.00-$24.00/hr. *Bi-weekly pay periods
