Duties Description POSITION DESCRIPTION:The Registered Nurse 1 is essential to maintaining the health and safety of the workforce and individuals we serve. This position is a Registered Nurse 1 position based out of the Middletown DDSO Office located at 42 Rykowski Lane, Middletown, NY. This position is Mon-Friday 8:00a.m.-4:30p.m. However, flexibility is required, and hours and days of the week may need to be work adjusted as needed. This position requires heavy travel throughout Orange, Rockland, Sullivan, and Westchester counties weekly. This Registered Nurse 1 works under the direction of the Director of Nursing and is directly supervised by the Director of Nursing. The Registered Nurse 1 provides support to the Infection Control department in implementing program policies and procedures that eliminate the risk of infection to individuals, facility personnel, and visitors throughout the 4 counties of the Hudson Valley district - Sullivan, Orange, Rockland, and Westchester counties serving over 600 individuals.PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:• Coordinates, implements, and monitors the OPWDD Respiratory Protection Program in accordance with OPWDD Policy, US Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) Regulations, Public Employee Safety and Health (PESH) Act, and New York State Department of Labor (NYS DOL) standards. • Plays a unique and active role in the district wide implementation and monitoring of the mandatory Respiratory Protection Program Policy, ensuring ongoing compliance with state and federal regulations.• Works collaboratively with the Program Site Supervisors, nursing/medical services, the interdisciplinary treatment teams, the workforce, and Talent Development and Training to support the requirements of the Respiratory Protection Program according to the policy and under the direction of the Director of Nursing.• Requirements will include, but are not limited to, ensuring staff complete the required medical clearance prior to fit testing and the initial and annual N95 fit test of employees. • May assist with on-site training of staff as well as perform periodic audits at various locations throughout the district to ensure compliance with the program.• Performs fit testing and ensures there are additional trained staff to act as fit testers to ensure compliance.• Oversees the responsible use and storage of the fit testing equipment.• Internally tracks compliance, as well as provides the RPA and other Hudson Valley and Central Office leadership information as requested.• Coverage of and travel throughout the 4 counties of Hudson Valley DDSOO - Sullivan, Orange, Rockland, and Westchester Counties.• Completes special projects/assignments.Linked In: #LI-JL2 Additional Comments This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). HELPS Program titles may be filled via a non-competitive appointment. This means that you do not need to take an exam to qualify, but you do need to meet the minimum qualifications of the title. At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), employees hired under NY HELPS are expected to have their permanent non-competitive employment status converted to permanent competitive status. You will not have to take an exam to gain permanent competitive status. • Please note that starting salary for this title reflects the increased hiring salary and geographic pay differential. Posted Hiring Salary includes the sum of the statutory hiring rate for PS&T Grade 18 ($65,001), Increased Hiring Salary ($8,928), Geographic Differential ($35,000), and Mid-Hudson Adjustment ($1,650). Geographic Differential and Mid-Hudson Adjustment added to the job rate ($82,656) for PS&T Grade 18. • If you are currently a New York State employee serving in a permanent competitive qualifying title and eligible for a transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law, you may be appointed to this title as a permanent competitive employee. • The assignment of PS&T employees will be made in accordance with any agreed upon Memorandum of Understanding between PEF and the local DDSO regarding the posting of job vacancies. • Preference will be given to OPWDD employees impacted by closures.
