SummaryThe RN renders professional and technical nursing care to assigned residents, and provides direct and indirect resident care using the nursing process. Directs and supervises other assigned team members and collaborates with physicians and multidisciplinary team members to achieve the highest standards of care specific to the age of the resident.Job Duties
- Demonstrates adaptability and flexibility to changing situations.
- Demonstrates leadership skills through problem solving and adherence to nursing standards of care. Ability to problem solve independently.
- Enhances continuity of care by meeting assigned residents physical and psychosocial needs. Identifies changes and trends in resident status and individualizes their care plan accordingly. Able to individualize the care plan.
- Evaluates resident outcomes and their effectiveness to plan of care.
- Ensures a secure and safe resident environment. Practices safety and infection control measures. Provides treatments, med administration and appropriate use of equipment. Responds appropriately to emergency situations.
- Identifies and actively supports the role of resident advocate/liaison by communication and documentation of resident information to the proper resources/agencies as directed.
- Promotes residents well-being, maximal independence and ability to make informed decisions by teaching, counseling, reinforcing residents/families knowledge of disease, meds and self-care skills. Assesses for resident/family learning needs. Plans and coordinates with other disciplines to meet learning needs. Implements measure to meet resident needs.
- Ensures quality resident care is delivered. Assumes accountability and responsibility for quality of resident care provided. Demonstrates initiative and judgment.
- Promotes a cooperative working environment and team building. Fosters peer support and team building.
Required Education and Experience
- Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.
- Minnesota Licensure as RN.
- CPR Certification.
- Must successfully complete criminal background check as required by the State of Minnesota and drug screening per MLHS policy.
- Knowledge of nursing principles, policies, procedures, and medical ethics equivalent to your level of practice and experience.
- Demonstrate ability to provide work direction to other staff (NAR's, TMA's, LPN's) and maintain their accountability.
