- Provide direct care for patients recovering from coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgeries, including both on-pump and off-pump grafts, and cardiac valvular surgeries such as reconstruction or replacement.
- Perform continuous monitoring of hemodynamic parameters, ventilator management, and invasive procedures (e.g., central lines, arterial lines). Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Respond to changes in patient condition, including arrhythmias, respiratory failure, and cardiovascular instability. Implement care plans and modify treatments based on patient assessments.
- Work closely with cardiothoracic surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver coordinated care.
- Educate patients and families on recovery, cardiac rehabilitation, lifestyle changes, and post-discharge care.
- Complete accurate documentation of patient assessments, treatments, and progress in Epic (Excellian) in a timely and thorough manner.
Experience:
- 1 year of experience in a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) or critical care setting is required.
- Experience with postoperative cardiac patients, including CABG and cardiac valvular surgeries, is strongly preferred.
Licensure:
- New York RN License in hand is required.
Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification required.
- Telemetry or cardiac-specific certifications (e.g., CCRN) are preferred but not required.
Skills:
- Strong clinical judgment and the ability to manage critically ill patients with complex cardiac needs.
- Expertise in the use of hemodynamic monitoring and management of invasive lines, ventilators, and other critical care technologies.
- Proficiency in Epic (Excellian) or other electronic health records (EHR).
- Excellent communication skills for collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and for educating patients and families.
