Registered Nurse As a Registered Nurse (RN) at our Opioid Treatment Program in Cortland, NY, you will be integral in providing life-changing care to individuals with opioid use disorder (OUD). Working under the supervision of the Nurse Manager and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, the RN will oversee client care, administer medications, manage medical emergencies, and ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines. Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Direct Patient Care: Deliver compassionate, client-centered nursing care, ensuring safety, dignity, and respect for all clients. Provide a judgment-free, supportive environment to foster recovery.
  • Medication Administration: Accurately prepare, administer, and monitor MAT, including methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone, in compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Medical Assessment and Triage: Perform thorough nursing assessments, document findings, and provide triage for emergent client issues, escalating to the NP or physician as needed.
  • Diagnostic Support: Collect and process diagnostic specimens, including urine toxicology screens and lab samples.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation in both electronic and paper records, adhering to confidentiality and compliance standards.Client Education: Educate clients on MAT, harm reduction practices, and overall health promotion strategies tailored to their individual needs.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with the treatment team, including physicians, nurse practitioners, counselors, and case managers, to ensure holistic and coordinated care.
Required Skills and Experience:
  • Licensure: Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license (or out-of-state eligibility).
  • Experience: Preference for candidates with addiction medicine or behavioral health experience a plus.
  • Certifications: Current CPR and First Aid certifications (required; training available if needed).
  • Skills: Exceptional interpersonal communication, critical thinking, and crisis intervention abilities. Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills with a commitment to appropriate treatment boundaries and teamwork.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • BSN preferred
Physical Requirements:
  • Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g., Use of computer keyboard); may require lifting and carrying light loads (up to 40 lbs), including boxes, equipment, IV solutions and stooping and kneeling (e.g., to pick up items from the floor, to remove and replace items on lower shelves and to file documents in lower file drawers); sitting, walking, or standing for long periods of time may be necessary; must be able physically to operate the equipment used for the job.
Location and Travel Requirements:
  • Primary Location: Cortland Clinic (95%)
  • Travel: Occasional travel to other C.A.R.S. clinic locations (5%)
Pay Range Disclosure:
  • $35.63 to $44.18 per hour
