About the Facility - Cheyenne VAMC t the Cheyenne VAMC, the facility provides primary and secondary inpatient services in medicine and surgery as well as outpatient services in medicine, surgery and psychiatry. Presently the Medical Center has an operating bed level of 21 hospital beds: 12 general medical beds, 6 intermediate beds and 4 general surgical beds. The Medical Center also supports a 50-bed Nursing Home Care Unit located within the main hospital building. s a teaching hospital, Cheyenne VAMC provides a full range of services, with state-of-the-art technology as well as education and research. Cheyenne VAMC is primarily affiliated with the University of Wyoming, offering residency training in all major medical and surgical specialties and subspecialties. Facility Address: 2360 E Pershing Blvd, Cheyenne, WY 82001 RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to) The Community Living Center (CLC) RN will serve as a staff nurse and will evaluate clinical practice and initiate change based on current concepts and findings from research and/or evidence based studies. Duties include (but are not limited to):
  • Performing diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures appropriate to CLC's practice setting;
  • Providing leadership in interpreting, supporting and implementing Medical Center and Nursing Department philosophy, policies, procedures, standards, guidelines and quality improvement processes; Accepting responsibility and maintaining accountability for actions and continued professional and personal growth;
  • Serving as a consultant in clinical practice;
  • Communicating and working effectively with others;
  • Initiating and leading groups of personnel and interdisciplinary groups;
  • Establishing relationships with professional and/or health related groups with the community.
We seek RNs who possess:
  • Good organizational skills which enable completion of work;
  • n ability to assume leadership duties;
  • bility to establish effective communication with residents, families and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
The RN should have a working understanding of cultural transformation, creating a home-like environment, a dedication to improving the quality of life for the residents and provide physical, mental, emotional and spiritual support and medical care for residents and/or significant others during the time surrounding death. QUALIFICATIONS Basic Requirements
  • United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
  • Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)
  • 1-2 years of nursing experience
