JOB SUMMARYThe Registered Nurse uses the nursing process in Nursing Practice to assist the patient to achieve optimum health; exercises Leadership as part of the multidisciplinary team; incorporates lifelong learning and practice competency into his or her Professional Profile; and incorporates research, evidence based practice into Practice Outcomes. The Registered Nurse demonstrates competency in caring for complex patients and participates as an essential member of the multidisciplinary team to improve the quality of care in the clinical area. SPECIFIC ELEMENTS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The nurse systematically assesses, plans, prioritizes, and implements individualized care interventions, utilizing current scientific knowledge evidence-based practice and standards, across the continuum of patient care, to achieve desired outcomes for all aspects of the patient's physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and age-specific needs.Evaluates care by performing regular and systematic reviews of patient/family responses to interventions and revises care to facilitate progress toward desired outcomes.Serves as an advocate for the patient and family, to promote understanding of their rights, interventions and revises care to facilitate progress toward desired outcomes.Exercises informed judgment, acts competently, assumes responsibility and accountability for patient care.Evaluates and supervises LPNs and unlicensed, assistive healthcare providers in delivering patient care while actively participating as a collaborative member of the healthcare team.Maintains professional competency through continuing education licensure and professional activities. Demonstrates professional conduct and appearance, and is accountable for actions and outcomes.Assists in maintaining compliance with hospital accreditation requirements and other regulatory agencies and standards and performs duties in a cost-effective manner, striving to avoid wasting hospital resources without jeopardizing quality of care and service.All job requirements listed indicate the minimum level of knowledge, skills and ability deemed necessary to perform the job proficiently. RequirementsEXPERIENCE
- Minimum 3 years ED RN Critical Care, Urgent Care, or Paramedic experience required
- Telemetry experience or certification required
EDUCATION
- Associate's Degree in Nursing and NYS Registered Nurse license
CERTIFICATIONS/SKILLS
- Must maintain BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications
- TNCC and ENPC certifications preferred
