The hiring rate for this position is $38.00 per hour.The CIA offers a substantial benefits package that includes medical coverage available at no cost to qualifying employees, dental insurance, vision insurance, life insurance, short and long term disability insurance, retirement savings plan with high employer contributions, a generous paid time off program, and more!As the benefits package at the CIA results in a significant value above the base hiring rate for this position, we encourage you to apply so that our recruiters can share more information with you about the benefits of working for the CIA.POSITION SUMMARYThe Registered Nurse is responsible for providing nursing care to students, assisting students in their efforts to attain a healthy lifestyle by providing a caring, professional environment which supports the physical and emotional well-being of each student, and identifying health and wellness opportunities for student educational programs.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES* Performs all functions standard for a Registered Nurse, including but not limited to, providing nursing care, treatment, and medical assistance for students, computer documentation in the Electronic Medical Record system, and administering medications, immunizations and health screenings.* Maintains confidentiality on issues under HIPAA and FERPA.* Assists with the coordination of Health Service staff, including but not limited to CPR, Medical Documentation, Allergy Injections, Vaccinations, etc.* Assists the Charge Nurse & Director with producing schedules for nursing staff to cover clinic hours of operation.* Assists the Charge Nurse & Director with routine and emergency vaccine management plans which includes but is not limited to ordering, receiving, storing, updating policy and procedures, and monitoring of vaccine and other clinic medications/medical supply inventory.* Aids in managing infectious illness outbreaks and preventative precautions.* Coordinates and participates in pertinent health and wellness student programs/screenings/surveys on campus and with various community agencies and professionals (Registration, First Aid presentations, HIV/STI testing, Smoking Cessation, Alcohol Awareness, Student Satisfaction, Flu clinic, etc.).* Provides coordination, development, presentation, and reporting support of a variety of educational programs.* Coordinates and produces monthly Educational Bulletin Board information in student waiting area and contributes information to the Student Web Portal.* Assists with new student medical documentation and communication with students to achieve compliance with NYS, Federal and CIA regulations and requirements prior to admission and while on campus.* Monitors CIA Health Services email and responds as necessary.* Provides recommendation to the Charge Nurse & Director in the review and revision of written department policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's).* Any and all other duties as assigned.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSEducation:* Minimum of an Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited school.Licenses / Certifications:* Registered Nurse license, with the ability to practice within New York State.* Cardiopulmonary (CPR) and first aid certification.* Basic Life Saving (BLS) Certification, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.* NYS Infection Control Course completion, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS* One (1) to five (5) years of prior nursing experience.* Wound Care Certification.* Previous work experience in a school clinic setting.REQUIRED SKILLS* Ability to use an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.* Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills required.* Must have demonstrated ability in organizational, time management, problem solving and interpersonal skills.* Strong customer service skills.* Ability to multi-task and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.* Ability to work independently with minimal direction.* Ability to work in a team environment and maintain effective working relationships.* Demonstrate sound judgment and decision making with confidentiality and discretion.* Strong computer skills, which must include abilities to work effectively with MS Office suite products, i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams.WORKING CONDITIONS* Must be able to work a flexible schedule with overtime on nights and weekends as required by business needs.* Regular work requires a great deal of sitting and standing for extended periods of time.* Ability to use a computer for extended periods of time.* Ability to physically respond to ill and/or injured students in other in areas of the campus.* Ability to transport patients in a wheelchair.* Ability to bend, stoop and kneel.* Ability to lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds independently, and patients with assistance.
