POSITION SUMMARY:Under the direction of the designated Nurse Manager, the Staff Nurse is responsible for professional, direct patient care in the nurse role. The Staff Nurse will utilize the nursing process within their scope of practice to assess, develop nursing diagnosis, develop plan of care, implement plan of care, monitor for effectiveness, and adjust appropriately, for patient's plan of care. The Staff Nurse is responsible for care, in areas assigned, within the Surgery Center, as needed.QUALIFICATIONS:Graduate of Accredited School of NursingRN with active license, no restrictions (license in appropriate state)One (1) year of nursing experience, preferably, in an ambulatory surgery centerCPR certification and/or ACLS-PALS certification (as required by Center)Strong ethical and moral character referencesBasic computer skillsESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Obtains and documents patient's medical history and perform physical assessmentUses proper techniques and procedures according to accepted standards of practice and center policies andproceduresAbility to apply dressings and assess statusAbility to safely use medical equipment per manufacturer's instructions for useAbility to insert, assess, or discontinue various catheters and tubesEffectively organizes and avoids wasteful practices of time, equipment, and suppliesObserves universal precautionsAttends all required educationRegular and predictable attendancePerforms other duties as assignedRegulatory/ComplianceContributes to the progress and development of the center's compliance programPerforms according to accreditation requirements, regulatory standards and center policies and proceduresAdheres to patients' rights and responsibilities and supports them in performance of job dutiesAdheres to rules and regulations for Protected Health Information (PHI) and Health Insurance Portability andAccountability (HIPAA) protections of patient informationQuality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI)Performs according to the centers adopted policies and proceduresEnsures compliance with the center's adopted quality assurance performance improvement program (QAPI), policiesand proceduresProactively contributes to the QAPI process and identifies his or her own role and contributionsSafetyAdheres to best practices and regulations adopted, to provide safety in the workplaceUses surgical safety checklistMonitors the Center's physical environment to ensure the maintenance of safety, comfort, cleanliness, andefficiencyMonitors the care, cleaning, and required maintenance of equipment to maintain proper working conditionsReports observed or suspected safety violations and hazards to the Safety Officer;
