Registered Nurse Full-Time in ICU Department

7A to 7:15P

Position Description:

Utilizes the nursing process in diagnosing and treating human responses to actual or potential health problems through such services as case finding, health teaching, health counseling and provisions of care supportive to or restorative of life and well-being. Execution of the medical regimens prescribed by a licensed physician or dentist authorized to practice at SBELIH. Experience:

  • Minimum of (2) two years of experience in Med-Surg/ Telemetry, Hospital or Emergency Room required.
  • Extensive experience in measuring and interpreting vital signs and levels of consciousness.
  • Advanced knowledge of best practices in patient care.
  • Licensed and currently registered in New York as a professional nurse.
  • Bachelor's in nursing preferred.
  • Basic Life Support ( BLS ), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support ( ACLS ) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support ( PALS ) required.
  • Telemetry/ Critical Care mandatory.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Bachelor's in nursing preferred.
  • Current License to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Current Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required.
  • Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification preferred.
  • Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse (CPAN) certification preferred.
  • Must be available to work variable day shifts.
  • Must be available for on-call.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continued professional development.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and collaborative skills.
  • Superb organizational and time management abilities.
  • Collaborating with surgeons, anesthesia personnel, physicians, and other members of the patient's care team.
  • Educating patients and their caregivers regarding post-surgical care at home.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift or assist in lifting a patient from bed to chair to standing or vice versa.
  • Must be able to respond quickly and effectively communicate orally in an emergent situation as well as in writing with clients or associates.
  • Must be able to use stairs in emergent situations.
  • Must be able to walk, carry semi-heavy equipment and reach overhead.
  • Must be able to lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to push/pull up to 50 lbs.

  • Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre-employment screenings.
  • Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).

Failure to comply with any of the above requirements could result in a delayed start date and/or revocation of the employment offer.
