Registered Nurse Team Lead An ICU Team Leader is a registered professional nurse who provides staff support and works in conjunction with unit leadership. Assumes the Charge RN role and holds staff accountable for the delivery of care and services through effective communication, observation, and the management and measurement of specific interventions/practices and their associated outcomes. The Team Leader plays a significant role in achieving clinical and financial goals along with management of human/material resources as delegated. The Team Leader plays a pivotal role in staff retention, recruitment, mentoring, patient and staff satisfaction. The Team Leader fosters teamwork and collaboration with physicians, staff, patients and other departments. Roles and Responsibilities: * Upholds all job responsibilities of a Registered nurse, provides direct patient care and assessment; Relationship-Based care through customer service rounding. * Performs unit quality audit/data collection and maintains records per unit/hospital guidelines. * Participates in education/staff development in collaboration with the ICU Clinical Educator; fosters a learning and supportive environment for the team. Effectively partners with co-Team Lead peer and is supportive of team goals. * Maintains throughput with accepting admissions to the unit in a timely manner and facilitates transfers and discharges by collaborating with providers, staff, and house supervisor. * Customer service in line with organizational expectations and goals. Demonstrates a professional demeanor when responding to patients/customers and coworkers' inquiries/grievances. * Committee chair - Active and consistent committee involvement, hospital and unit staff meeting participation, and skills days' completion. * Assist in schedule balancing to maximize coverage within budget resources. Required Skills and Experience: • Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program with either an Associates or Baccalaureate degree. • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in Critical Care Nursing and 1 year in the Charge RN role. • Licensure: Currently licensed in the State of New York as a Registered Professional • Certification: BLS, ACLS, PALS. • Physical Requirements: Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g., Use of computer keyboard); may require lifting and carrying light loads (up to 40 lbs.), including boxes, equipment, IV solutions and stooping and kneeling (e.g., to pick up items from the floor, to remove and replace items on lower shelves and to file documents in lower file drawers); sitting, walking, or standing for long periods of time may be necessary; must be able physically to operate the equipment used for the job. • Weekend obligation: in rotation per unit guidelines, and as assigned. Preferred Skills and Experience: * Manages productivity and is accountable for day-to-day adjustments in staffing. Documents deviations from staffing plan with explanation.
