Applicant lists may be screened more than once.Unit is Long Term Care. Shift is 9 pm to 7 am. Why does the job exist?Incumbent will be responsible for providing nursing care to meet the needs of the patients at one of our Long Term Care units; responsible for providing direction and guidance to CNA'S and for the implementation and direction of all nursing activities towards common hospital goals. How does it get done?Incumbent duties will Include but not limited to administration of all types of medications to include oral and injectable for the purpose of relieving anxiety, controlling behavior and treating physical problems. Performs various treatments ordered by the physician in order to assure patient's optimal physical and mental wellbeing. Who are the customers?Patients/Residents/Clients Ideal CandidateIdeal candidate will have:Experience caring for the mentally ill;Experience in providing comprehensive nursing care;Experience in administration of all types of medications;Must be licensed in accordance with the Nursing Practice Act Section61-3-2 through 61-3-31 NMSA 1978 and 16.12.1 through 16.12.20NMAC, as applicable. Minimum QualificationMust possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico OR eligibility for such licensure in accordance with New Mexico requirements OR Eligibility for a temporary license issued for employment at a specific institution in New Mexico and three (3) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification. In accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules, and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing. CRIMINAL RECORDS BACKGROUND CHECK-Must successfully complete post offer pre-employment criminal records background check. Employment is conditional pending the results of criminal records background checks. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Successful completion of the Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA). Working ConditionsThis position will perform work in a hospital and office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Exposure to mentally and behaviorally challenged residents who may exhibit unpredictable and sometimes violent behaviors in volatile situations requiring crisis intervention may be required.
