$31.11 - $49.78 Hourly$64,714 - $103,542 AnnuallyThis position is a Pay Band HHPosting DetailsThis posting will be used for on-going recruitment and will remain open until filled. New Mexico Rehabilitation Center (NMRC) is a Joint Commission accredited specialty hospital providing rehabilitation services to citizens of the State of New Mexico. Why does the job exist?Organize, monitor, maintain infection control center wide as per health industry and state standards. How does it get done?Ensure all new employees are cleared for communicable disease, all required forms are completed, and approval for employment is received before employee begins work. Provide follow-up on all needle sticks and blood and body fluid contamination per protocol. Inform and update all members of the healthcare team concerning infection control and/or concerns through verbal and/or written communication. Treat and educate patients and the public about various medical conditions, as well as provide emotional support to patients and their families. Administer direct patient / client care by implementing accepted nursing practices and institutional policies and procedures. Complete all nursing assessments within 24 hours. Assess patient / client per shift and report patient / client status at each shift change. Communicate to physician patient / client progress, change in condition or any problems / concerns timely and efficiently. This position will provide 3 days of nursing support on the units and 2 days on infection control duties. Who are the customers?Patients in need of Rehabilitation for Chemical Dependency or Medical Rehabilitation. Ideal CandidateKnow clinical and nursing standards and practices accordingly for all ages 18 to 90 plus. Knowledge and experience with health industry and state standards, record-keeping, communication skills and maintain professionalism and open channels of communication, both written and oral, with all members of the healthcare team and all parties having a vested interest in the patient / employee well-being. Minimum QualificationMust possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico, or eligibility for such licensure in accordance with New Mexico requirements, or eligibility for a temporary license issued for employment at a specific institution in New Mexico and three (3) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification. Employment RequirementsThis position is designated a safety sensitive. Employment is subject to pre-employment and random testing, in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing. Must possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico or eligibility for such licensure in accordance with New Mexico requirements. Employment is conditional pending results of criminal background check. Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. May be required to work weekends, holidays, overtime and call back hours as needed. Successful completion of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) training. Working ConditionsWork is of medium to heavy demand. Walking and standing may be required for most of the time on duty. Moderate lifting of patients with assistance is essential. Frequent reaching and handling and fingering of instruments and equipment is required. Visual and auditory acuity s essential to perform designated duties. Hours of work may be variable to meet the demands of the institution. May be subjected to unpleasant sights and odors. May be in contact with hazardous and infectious agents where judgment as to necessary precautions is essential. May be exposed to various degrees of emotional stress.This position will perform work in a hospital and office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Exposure to mentally and behaviorally challenged residents who may exhibit unpredictable and sometimes violent behaviors in volatile situations requiring crisis intervention may be required.
