This is more than a job-it's an opportunity to be part of something bigger.This position is a 0.9 FTE Night shift 7pm-7am$3,000 Sign on bonusOBJECTIVE SUMMARY: Provides professional nursing care for hospital patients and outpatients following established standards and practices. Assesses patient health problems and needs, develop and implement nursing care plans, and maintain medical records. Serves as a role model, leader, and bedside care coordinator of the multidisciplinary team providing patient care. As a professional caregiver the RN is responsible and accountable for a group of patients for a designated time frame.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Does not directly manage or supervise, but works in coordination with CNAs, LPNs, and Unit Clerks
  • Performs general nursing care for patients. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards. Maintains safe keeping of narcotics according to hospital policy.
  • Prepares equipment and aids physician during treatment, examination, and testing of patients.
  • Observes, records and reports patient's condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to physicians. Dispenses medication as directed.
  • Responds to and refers incoming telephone calls. Maintains and reviews patient records, charts and other pertinent information. Posts tests and examination results.
  • Prepares list of medical supplies needed.
  • Assesses and diagnoses patient and family needs to provide quality care to assigned patients.
  • Develops, discusses and communicates appropriate problem list (plan of care) for each patient, in collaboration with each department and the patient/family/significant other in order to address all identified needs.
  • Demonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to implement medical plan of care, nursing interventions and procedures as necessary for the care of the patient.
  • Evaluates the identified problems, care provided and patient's responses are reassessed in order to meet patient and family needs to ensure overall quality of care delivered.
  • Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to facilitate the integration of information for use by the healthcare team to assure quality care.
  • Functions as a role model for current and new staff.
  • Attends all required safety training programs and can describe responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety and specific job-related hazards.
  • Follows the hospital infection control policies.
  • Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors and fellow employees that promotes a professional, responsible and courteous environment.
  • Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department/unit team inter- and intra-departmentally to facilitate the departments/unit ability to meet its goals and objectives.
  • Directs other licenses and non-licensed personnel in the provision of care to patients as assigned.
  • Identifies and/or assumes activities relative to the developmental needs of the unit and the nursing department.
  • Demonstrates dependability/flexibility in meeting scheduling needs of the unit and hospital.
  • Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested.
  • Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Instructs patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions. Health teaching regarding nutrition, exercise, preventative measures and tests, side effects of medications, normal vs. abnormal, etc.
  • Administration of medication via injection, blood draws, preparation of urine specimens, complete lab requisitions, review lab reports daily, inform physician of abnormal or unusual results.
  • Performs related work as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited school of nursingPREFERRED EXPERIENCE: One year of professional nursing experience in a hospital setting preferredADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS: Washington State RN License, BLS, ACLS preferredSKILLS:
  • Speaks and writes effectively in English
  • Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations and procedures to administer patient care
  • Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment
  • Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of professional nursing to provide on-going patient care
  • Skill in identifying problems and recommending solutions
  • Skill in preparing and maintaining records
  • Skill in developing and maintaining quality assurance
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective positive working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities

  • Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures
