Job Description:

Purpose: Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, the Level 1 RN functions as a member of the interdisciplinary health care team in providing the highest quality of care to the patient.Key Job Responsibility AreasClinical ResponsibilitiesDocumentationAdministrativeMiscellaneousDetail of Key Job Responsibility AreasClinical ResponsibilitiesAssist providers in delivering patient care.Explain procedures and treatments to patients to gain cooperation, understanding and allay apprehensionAid providers during examinations and treatmentsObserve patient and record significant reactions/conditions. Notify providers of reaction to drugs, treatments.Work with the interdisciplinary health care team to facilitate careWork with interdisciplinary health care team to keep patients engagedActively participate in quality improvement initiativesDemonstrate positive communication and teamwork within clinic and between departmentsTriage daily patient related telephone calls. Assign priority rating and refer to providers as needed. When appropriate resolve patient problem by communicating care instructions and/or advice.Administer treatments, nursing interventions, injections, immunizationsPatient education on self-injection, new medications, or other treatments or issues related to careParticipate in QA/QI activities related to improvement initiativesDemonstrate excellence in communication, professionalism, stress management, and teamworkExpected to share knowledge ongoing across roles including orienting new nursing team membersAs needed, perform duties of Medical Office Assistant and/or LPNRoom patients including taking vitals and updating patient information, collecting samples from patients such as urine. Perform tests such as EKG as requiredFlex as needed to cover nursing absences and participate in nursing On-Call rotationPractice within the NYS RN scope of practice and maintain annual competenciesDocumentationDocument all patient care clearly, thoroughly, accurately, and timelyMaintain ongoing list of patients' preventative care needsComplete documentation requirements in a timely manner per policyAdministrativeServe as a resource for nursing teammates relative to documentation best practices.Seek out opportunities to enhance education by attending >3 nursing or cross-department in-services and completing >12 total/year continuing education creditsMiscellaneousRequires the ability and commitment to respect and support inclusiveness and diversity including but not limited to individuals of different backgrounds, cultures, races, ages, sexual orientations, gender identities or expressions, experiences, opinions, etc.Requires individual demonstration of commitment to the One Trillium behaviors and business impacts and modeling them in the organization.Responsible for maintaining confidentiality of all patient, client, employee, protected and proprietary information.Employees are accountable for meeting the performance standards of their departments and must participate as requested in compliance audits, process improvement and quality improvement plans.Other duties as assigned.QualificationsMust possess valid NYS RN license. Previous experience working in a hospital or clinic setting required. Knowledge of HIV/AIDS extremely helpful. Excellent written/oral communication and computer skills are required.Physical RequirementsWhile performing the duties of this job the employee is required to stand, sit, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. Occasionally the employee must stoop, bend and lift or move up to 25 lbs.
