Position OverviewFollowing established procedures, prepare exam rooms and patients for physician or physician's assistant's examination. Assist with procedures as requested.Note: Although each RN may be assigned to a specific physician, all incumbents should be prepared to act as backup for each other as needed.Please note this is not a NY State position; the employer is Upstate Community Medical, P.C.Tasks and ResponsibilitiesProvide professional nursing care to patients for the Department of OB/GYN.Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care needs in the practice.Manage telephone communications with patients, providers, staff, insurance companies, and other outside entitiesTriage patient calls and perform other clinical dutiesCheck in of patients,Take vital signs,Administer injections,Assist clinician with exams,Conduct prescription calls,Arrange for patient testing,Obtain authorizations and referrals for patient's insurance,Assist with patient education,Maintain medical charts,Provide backup to other staff as neededOther duties as assigned.Education, Training and Previous Experience RequirementsCurrent New York State RN License/registration requiredTriage Experience Highly PreferredAbility to work in a fast paced, multi-disciplinary environment,Current CPR certificationKnowledge and Skills Needed to Perform Effectively in the PositionAbility to interact compassionately with a diverse group of patients.Excellent communications skills including written and verbal.Good organizational skills with the ability to multi-taskGood time management skillsAbility to operate computer equipment sufficiently enough to complete job tasks.Ability to learn and apply software necessary to accurately complete job tasks, including EPIC.Job Related Physical Abilities an Individual Needs in Order to Perform the Job in a Satisfactory MannerMust be able to stand for long periods of time, bend and stoop. Must be able to speak and hear sufficient to communicate with patients and others. Ability to view a monitor/screen and enter data.
