General Description
The Part-Time Pre-School Registered Nurse at Hostos Childrens Center, Inc. supports the delivery of high quality and comprehensive health services for the children and families we serve. The Nurse will provide a range of services including trainings for staff and parents in health education; consultation with administrators and staff, sensory screenings follow up, and programmatic consultation. The Nurse will also maintain records and support compliance in accordance with the NYC Department of Mental Health & Hygiene. This is a grant-funded position.
Collaborates and consults with parents, families and administrators.
Provides services to Children, as needed.
Trains staff in health education;
Develops and conducts health and safety workshops for parents
Provides programmatic consultation
Follows up on sensory screenings
Maintains childrens health records via data-base, as required by Department of Health.
Communicates to parents to keep physicals and immunizations current.
Reports to supervisor any signs or symptoms of suspected child abuse and/or neglect, injuries, or illness.
Adheres to safety and evacuation plans to escort children to safety in the case of drills and emergency situations.
Participates in Hostos Childrens Center parent outreach initiatives.
Attends and participates in staff meetings and in-service trainings, conferences, courses, and other aspects of professional growth.
Maintains and updates Aspire account.
Other Duties
May assist in the classroom as needed to support teachers.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
MAT Trained
CPR/First Aid Certified
Bi-lingual in Spanish
NYS RN
Experience working with early childhood
Complies with all DOMH requirements and other agency requirements necessary for the operation of the Center
