Summary of Need: To provide nursing interventions and medication administration consistent with the established systematic problem-solving approach for the delivery of comprehensive nursing care, which are compliant with the regulatory standards in a correctional setting. Execute medical regimens as prescribed by licensed physicians, dentists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, podiatrists, and dentists. Includes advanced practice nurses such as: clinical nurse specialists, certified nurse midwives, and certified registered nurse anesthetists. Advanced practice nursing is practiced by RNs who have specialized formal, post-basic education and who function in highly autonomous and specialized roles. Job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Diagnose and treat a patient's health problems.
- Execute medical regimens as prescribed by licensed physicians, dentists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, podiatrists, and dentists. EKG's and blood draws, as well as have strong assessment skills.
- Perform health assessments to identify new symptoms of possibly undiagnosed conditions or complications.
- Administer medication.
- Manage and deliver restorative or palliative care to the ill, disabled and dying.
- Teach and counsel patients about maintenance of health and prevention of illness or complications.
- Contribute as a member of an interdisciplinary health care team and as a consultant on health-related committees to plan and implement the health care needs of consumers.
- Treat a patient's health problems.
- Perform health assessments to identify new symptoms of possibly undiagnosed conditions or complications. Administer medication.
Qualifications: - Registered Nurse in New York State.
- Minimum of one (1) or more years' experience.
- Able to work with Incarcerated Individuals in a medium security prison.
- Must follow the Nursing Pledge.
- Should have 1 year of acute/critical care experience.
- Wound care experience, which includes daily dressing changes using several different types of dressing including wound vacs.
- Be able to start an IV
- Be familiar with EKG machines and completing an EKG independently
- Be familiar with Telemedicine
- Be familiar with Narcan and Narcan administration
- Ability to multi-task is a must.

Shift : Full Time - 1 RN for Days/Evenings, with some nights & 1 RN for Evening/Nights. Scheduling will include every other weekend and some holidays.
Contract Length: 13-week contract, with the possibility of extensions up to two years.
