Summary of Need:To provide nursing interventions and medication administration consistent with the established systematic problem-solving approach for the delivery of comprehensive nursing care, which are compliant with the regulatory standards in a correctional setting. Execute medical regimens as prescribed by licensed physicians, dentists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, podiatrists, and dentists. Includes advanced practice nurses such as: clinical nurse specialists, certified nurse midwives, and certified registered nurse anesthetists. Advanced practice nursing is practiced by RNs who have specialized formal, post-basic education and who function in highly autonomous and specialized roles.Job duties include, but are not limited to:Diagnose and treat a patient's health problems.Execute medical regimens as prescribed by licensed physicians, dentists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, podiatrists, and dentists.EKG's and blood draws, as well as have strong assessment skills.Perform health assessments to identify new symptoms of possibly undiagnosed conditions or complications.Administer medication.Manage and deliver restorative or palliative care to the ill, disabled and dying.Teach and counsel patients about maintenance of health and prevention of illness or complications.Contribute as a member of an interdisciplinary health care team and as a consultant on health-related committees to plan and implement the health care needs of consumers.Treat a patient's health problems.Perform health assessments to identify new symptoms of possibly undiagnosed conditions or complications. Administer medication.Qualifications:Registered Nurse in New York State.Minimum of one (1) or more years' experience.Able to work with Incarcerated Individuals in a medium security prison.Must follow the Nursing Pledge.Should have 1 year of acute/critical care experience.Wound care experience, which includes daily dressing changes using several different types of dressing including wound vacs.Be able to start an IVBe familiar with EKG machines and completing an EKG independentlyBe familiar with TelemedicineBe familiar with Narcan and Narcan administrationAbility to multi-task is a must.Prioritize dutiesGood written and verbal communication skills.
