OPMC investigates all complaints of professional misconduct to ensure compliance with medical practice standards.*Minimum Qualifications:** Registered Nurse with a valid, current license and registration (no disciplinary actions on license).* A minimum of five (5) years of clinical nursing experience.*Preferred Qualifications:** Three (3) years of investigative experience.* Knowledge of current investigative techniques.* Proficiency with basic computer skills, including word processing and database applications.* Strong written and oral communication skills.* Excellent customer service abilities.* Experience with the professional medical conduct process.*Key Responsibilities:** Perform medical reviews: Conduct clinical reviews of medical records to assess the appropriateness of care provided based on established standards of medical practice.* Investigate complaints: Develop investigative plans for cases involving potential violations of NYS Public Health Law, Section 230.* Conduct interviews: Perform telephone interviews with complainants and physicians to gather relevant information.* Coordinate with Medical Coordinators: Collaborate with Medical Coordinators to review patient files and assess the standard of care provided.* Draft correspondence: Prepare written communications to subjects of investigations, ensuring compliance with NYS Public Health Law, Section 230.* Obtain and review confidential data: Collect and analyze confidential information as needed to locate subjects under investigation.* Review previous investigations: Summarize findings from previous OPMC investigations of the subject physician or healthcare provider.* Document investigative actions: Record all investigative actions following the OPMC protocol in the database.* Maintain iTrak database: Update the OPMC database to reflect completed investigative actions.* Prepare investigative summary: Compile a summary of investigative actions, including a recommendation for case disposition.* Prepare and present case summaries: Present cases before the Investigation Committee of the Board for Professional Medical Conduct when evidence of misconduct is found.* Respond to public inquiries: Address telephone calls from the public regarding Section 230 regulations.*Additional Notes:** This position involves a mix of clinical review and investigative duties related to medical misconduct cases.
