Job details:
- Night shift: 1745 - 0615; 12 hours shifts, 4/3 schedule (M,T,F,S / W,Th,Su).
This will be on the main facility (~1500 offenders; medium, close and restrictive housing) Duties may include: pill line, wound care (no wound vacs/sterile wounds) Non-medication orders (NMOS; Vitals, BP, instructions & education), medical trip returns, intakes, self-declared emergency visits, responding to codes, Quality control in pharmacies, calling on-call providers, preparing trips/transfers for the morning, and any duties assigned by charge nurse that is within scope of practice. Staffing: 6 to 7
- All contract staff must be willing to adjust to needs of facility and rotation may be subject to change. Prior notification will be given before any changes are made.
- Any RN that has worked more than one DAC contract will be cross trained in charge and may be required to run shift if necessary.
- Orientation for those who have not worked NCDAC at all is 10 hours M-Th for the first week, then M-F 8 hours for the next 2 weeks. With previous NCDAC experience, training is 1-2 weeks depending upon needs of individual/length of time since last worked for NCDAC.
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least one year (12 months) of experience as a Registered Nurse
- A valid and current RN license issued by the State of North Carolina
- A valid and current BLS provider card (American Heart Association).
- Proficiency in the English language is necessary for communication with other staff and patients. RN must be able to communicate effectively in oral and written English.
- Prior DAC experience preferred but not required.
