Job Description:

Health Advocates Network is currently seeking a Registered Nurse to work at a facility in Rome, New York. These are registry positions with our company. *$100 Sign-On Bonus*Pay Rate: $65 / hour*W2Shift details:

  • Mon 8a-4pm Tu-Fri 7a-3p
Daily Activities of the Day Shift Nurse, but not limited to:1) Count control meds and get report from night shift.2) Check medications that are due throughout the day including as needed meds prior to students' gym class or as ordered.3) Load rolling cart at the Health Center with emergency bag, meds and supplies to spend the day in the Educational Satellite Health Center.4) Assess a student's tracheostomy and Mi-key button tube on arrival to and dismissal from school. Provide care for him, monitor his weight and oral intake. Document in his chart.5) Carry radio and respond to student or staff emergency calls.6) Assessment of student with complaints of injury or illness. Contact parents as necessary. If admitted to the Health Center, provide care until student is picked up or transported home.7) Monitor the attendance list and contact parents/guardians for reason for absence.8) Check students charts for immunizations, updated physicals and consents. Provide copies to the education secretary for student files.9) Clean work area after each student visit.10) Document all assessments and care provided in the progress notes for students and staff.11) At end of shift clean work area, count controlled meds with incoming nurse and give shift report.Duties of a School Nurse - Responsibilities of the director of school health services can be delegated to the school nurse if within their scope of practice. These typically include: Informing parents/guardians, students and teachers of a student's health condition subject to federal and state confidentiality laws; Guide parents, students and teachers in procedures for preventing and correcting defects and diseases; Instruct school personnel in procedures to follow in case of accident or illness; and Survey and make necessary recommendations concerning the health and safety aspects of school facilities and the provision of health information. {Education (Ed) Law 901]Immediately send home, in a safe and proper manner, any student showing signs of any communicable or infectious disease reportable under Public Health Law that imposes a significant risk of infections to others in the school. Immediately notify the local public health agency of any disease reportable under Public Health Law. [Ed Law 906]Skill Level - Needs to be an R.N., CPR certified, experience with tracheostomy and gastric tube, asthmatics, medication administration and special needs children.Experience - Pediatric and special need children, triage, CPR certified, tracheostomy and gastric tube care experience, asthma care, medication administration.Qualifications - R.N. in NYS, valid CPR certification, computer skills
