Job SummaryThe Registered Nurse (RN) in Labor and Delivery is responsible for utilizing the nursing process to deliver comprehensive, age-appropriate care for patients on the assigned unit. Nursing care is provided in accordance with standards set by the Nursing Service Department, regulatory agencies, and professional organizations. The RN is accountable for the safety and quality of both direct and indirect patient care and reports to the Director of Obstetrical Nursing or designee.
Key Responsibilities- Utilize the nursing process to provide age-appropriate, comprehensive care for patients on the assigned unit.
- Deliver nursing care in alignment with the Nursing Service Department's philosophy and standards, as well as regulatory and professional guidelines.
- Ensure accountability for the safety of nursing care delivered or supervised.
- Communicate effectively with the patient, family, or significant others, ensuring quality care is delivered.
- Report directly to the Director of Obstetrical Nursing or designee.
Required Qualifications- Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Labor & Delivery RN
Preferred Qualifications- Fetal monitoring certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
Certifications- Active California RN license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) healthcare provider certification
