The Registered Professional Nurse is responsible for the planning, implementing and evaluation of care for a given patient population with the established standards and practices of Crouse Hospital.# This process is enacted through direct clinical practice, management of patient care and general professional duties. The Nurse Orientor is responsible for the planning, implementing, and evaluation of a program which provides a thorough orientation to the nursing unit, in addition to the Registered Professional Nurse responsibilities.# In addition to the Registered Professional Nurse responsibilities, the Lactation Consultant (LC) is responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating a program providing breastfeeding education and support to promote successful breastfeeding to staff, patients and their families. #Items included are direct patient care responsibilities, medication responsibilities, location of supplies and equipment, policies, procedures and standards as well as applicable hospital and medical staff policies.# The LC functions and contributes as member of the maternal child health team. Required: IF HIRED OR LICENSED AFTER 1/1/2017: Graduate of an accredited Nursing degree. #MUST complete BSN (Bachelors in Nursing) within 8 years of hire date into the Registered Nurse position Currently licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State. CLC Certification required. IBCLC Certification within one year from hire date.# Must have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification at the time of hire or within two (2) weeks of hire.# Must have Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) certification. Demonstrated interest and initiative in learning, as well as ability to teach and work with present and new staff members. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Practice reflects the understanding of the developmental needs specific to the unit.
