The Public Health Department provides safety net services to the most vulnerable clients within the community, based on set program area processes and protocols in the areas of Sexually Transmitted Diseases, Family Planning, adult and child immunizations, Harm Reduction services, and treatment of both active pulmonary Tuberculosis and latent Tuberculosis infections. This position supports and delivers various public health programs, which may include, but is not limited to: Health Services such as Epidemiology and Response; Tuberculosis; Breast and Cervical Cancer screening and referral; STI screening, treatment and referrals; Immunizations; Family Planning; Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) services; Case Management; Community Outreach; Health Promotion; and Disease Management, through advocacy, adherence to clinical protocols, standing orders, education and policies and procedures. This position will be responsible for participating in any requirements for the Medicaid Administrative Claiming program as it relates to the primary duties of their job and working with clients and community member throughout Lea County. How does it get done? This position advises on health maintenance and disease prevention. Seeing clients for testing and treatment of STD's, Family Planning services, Immunizations for adults and children, supporting the Contract Nurse Practitioner in clinic. Testing and treating active Tuberculosis and Latent Tuberculosis for high risk of converting to an active TB. Maintaining Standards of Nursing care and practice and following HIPAA guidelines. Who are the customers? This positions serves the population of New Mexico and specifically the population of the SE Region especially Hobbs, NM. The RN supports the functions of the providers, clerks, and other program staff to achieve common public health goals. Ideal Candidate 1. Spanish speaking would be an advantage 2. Experience in a medical clinic setting 3. Experience in administering immunizations 4. Experience in testing and treating STDs 5. Experienced with application of protocols 6. Strong critical thinking skills. 7. Ability to work automously as well as part of a team. 8. Ability to think independently and problem solve. Minimum Qualification Must possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico OR eligibility for such licensure in accordance with New Mexico requirements OR Eligibility for a temporary license issued for employment at a specific institution in New Mexico and three (3) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification. Employment Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment. Working Conditions Primary work site is the Hobbs Public Health Office based in Hobbs, New Mexico. Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds, stand, walk, bend, stoop, and sit for periods of time. Must be able to travel/drive for extended periods throughout the region on occasion. Must be able to speak, hear and see. Work is usually preformed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive telephone usage and direct client contact.
