Job SummaryThe Registered Nurse (RN) in the Medical/Surgical unit provides comprehensive care to patients, ensuring their safety, comfort, and recovery within a hospital setting. This role involves close collaboration with a multidisciplinary healthcare team, delivering patient-centered care and monitoring health conditions using specialized medical technologies.Key ResponsibilitiesReview and analyze patients' medical histories, test results, and treatment plans to inform care decisions.Track and document routine measurements, including heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen levels.Monitor, interpret, and record data from medical equipment to support patient care and treatment adjustments.Administer medications and perform treatment interventions as prescribed, collaborating with healthcare specialists as necessary.Maintain and update patient charts, files, and medical records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.Report any changes in patient condition to the healthcare team and respond promptly to signs of deterioration.Educate patients and their families about test results, procedures, post-hospital care, medication, and lifestyle modifications for optimal recovery.Required QualificationsValid NY RN LicenseBasic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certificationsCurrent COVID-19 and flu vaccination recordsMinimum of 2 years of experience in a medical/surgical settingFamiliarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems and basic web-based applicationsPreferred QualificationsExperience working in a teaching hospital settingSpecialty area expertise Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) , Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) , NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
