Being part of the AMIkids team means that you are helping youth to realize their full potential and become a valuable part of their community.Position SummaryThe Nurse role is responsible for ensuring all Affiliated AMIkids Program clients receive the proper medical treatment as dictated by Rule 63M-2 F. A. C. The Nurse is responsible for sick call, routine medical care including episodic care, admission required screenings, medical records upkeep, communication with offsite medical providers, transportation when required, training for program staff, routine emergency drills, and monitoring of all clients' medical and dental needs.Work Schedule: 30-39 hours per week, with shifts scheduled on various days Mon.-Sun, between 6am-6pm.Essential Job Functions
- Conduct daily sick call as required by policy,
- Supervise the administration of all medication and maintain Medication Administration Records for all program youth,
- Supervise all medication procurement, verification, perpetual inventories, and proper storage,
- Ensure follow-up instructions from all off-campus providers are followed as ordered and recorded in the Electronic Medical Records and/or Individual Health Care Records as required,
- Conduct and document in service training for all team members for medical related issues,
- Communicate with Administration and/or Shift Supervisor every day prior to sick call and conduct shift-to shift medication count at end of day,
- Conduct and document health education classes for all students/family as needed,
- Communicate with other department staff regarding medical needs of youth when participating on a treatment team as a treatment team member
- Maintain clean, professional and kids' friendly medical clinic,
- Effective use of the Behavior Modification System by providing redirection and coaching to students who exhibit inappropriate behavior,
- Administer first aid and CPR during emergencies in accordance with National standards,
- Drive program vehicles as required in accordance with the transportation guidelines. Maintain approved driving status as stated in the transportation policy,
- Serve as a positive role model for all youth,
- May be required to work evenings and weekends as needed,
- Attend required trainings/professional development events and maintain appropriate certifications and licensure,
- Assist/lead special projects and other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education, Training and Experience
- In good standing in the State of employment with a clear and active license and a degree in nursing,
- Experience in pediatric nursing and/or working within a correctional facility preferred,
- Obtain and maintain appropriate crisis intervention and physical restraint training and certification as defined by state requirements,
- Must obtain and maintain current ACLS, BLS AED certification by nationally recognized organization.
