Nurses who work in this practice will develop skills in trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing and harm reduction strategies. The skills gained would be of great benefit to a nurse who has interest in serving vulnerable communities.   • Provide patient care based upon practice guidelines, community standards of care, and Federal and State laws and regulations.
  • Provide nursing assessments and interventions including medical, dental and psychiatric screening. Monitors and documents treatment progress and patient response.
  • Evaluate, monitor and treat drug and alcohol withdrawal.
  • Carry out prescribed treatments, wound care.
  • Administers medications and vaccinations.
  • Provide mental health services, as a member of an interdisciplinary team, to patients.
  • Respond to emergencies throughout the facility; injury and illness; performs CPR when needed.

Work Schedule: The individual selected for this position will have a day shift work schedule between the hours of 0700 - 1500, Wednesday through Sunday. This position is overtime eligible and may work outside of the typical schedule to meet operational needs. Work Location: King County Juvenile Detention Center, 1211 E. Alder, Seattle, WA, 98122. The individual selected for this position will work within the secure perimeter of the juvenile detention facility. Note: This posting will remain open until all needs are filled.   • Associate's degree in nursing science, bachelor's degree in nursing or a graduate level nursing degree of MSN, DNP or PhD from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current Washington State license as a Registered Nurse or Multi-State Licensure.
  • Documentation of current BLS-CPR for Health Care Providers. CPR/AED HeartSaver courses do not meet this requirement.
  • Washington state driver's license or ability to travel to sites within the county.
