Provides direct and indirect patient care in a healthcare setting. The RN must effectivelycollaborate with other professional disciplines to ensure effective patient care delivery and achievementof desired patient outcomes. The RN provides care for patients for varioustypes of illness or trauma requiring emergency attention and must be able to recognize and effectivelytreat life-threatening conditions across all age groups.RequirementsProfessional Proficiency DemonstratedResponsible for understanding and adherence to the Standards/Code of Conduct, and the CorporateCompliance Plan at St. James Health.Ensures that all educational requirements related to Corporate Compliance are implemented andadhered to as required by the CCP Education Plan.Delivery of High Quality Clinical Outcomes1. Ability to perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments asper policy. This includes: pediatric, geriatric and the general patient population.2. Ability to adequately assess and reassess pain. Utilizes appropriate painmanagement techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding painmanagement.3. Ability to revise plan of care as indicated by the patient's response to treatment andevaluate overall plan daily and as needed for effectiveness.4. Ability to perform waived testing (point-of-care testing) per Clinical Laboratory's andthe patient care unit's policies and procedures.5. Ability to interpret results of waived tests; take appropriate action on waived testsresults.B. Demonstrates an ability to assist physicians with procedures and performs servicesrequiring technical and manual skills, and to perform treatments and provide services tolevel licensure.C. Follows the six (6) medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors,with a knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of thepatient and their clinical condition.D. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the lifespan and the skills necessary to provide age appropriate care to the patient populationserved. Able to interpret data about the patient's status in order to identify eachpatient's age specific needs and provide care needed by the patient group. Performspatient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care forpatient's age.E. Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety andreduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.F. Should have a full range ofbody motion to successfully perform all essential functions of the job, meaning you'll have to stand,walk, bend, kneel, crouch and reach frequently during a 12 hour shift.
