Working Hours: Monday-Friday, 8 hours per day / 5 days per week. 8:00am - 4:30pm As a Triage RN, you'll be supporting our all clinics at Dent along with a full team of experienced and tenured nurses. You will be part of a team responsible to support our providers each day, answering patient calls, and follow-up with patients while assisting with prior authorizations, med refills, and general questions. We need a dedicated professional who has excellent social and time management skills to support the incoming calls to the department and a high standard of integrity while providing exemplary patient care. Responsibilities of Position:
  • Preforms phone triage duties in accordance with policy consulting with Dent providers with a high degree of planning and initiative. Coordinates scheduling with medical secretary. Represents the Dent by displaying a respectful and caring manner with patients and their families. Independently problem solves and utilizes resources to solve complicated matters. Maintains confidentiality of patient information.
  • Assess and delegate appropriate tasks to LPN's within their scope of practice.
  • Complies with quality assurance, HIPAA, customer focus, infection control, safety and other policies as set forth.
  • Must be able to triage patient calls for severity while discussing symptoms/.concerns over the phone.
  • Must be able to determine urgency of patient needs including messages, phone calls, walk ins on an urgent/non-urgent basis.
  • All information should be confirmed i.e.; name, DOB, address, phone, insurance, etc.
  • If patient is requesting prescription, EMR information must be checked to confirm accuracy and legitimacy of request, including drug allergies, contact number and pharmacy information notes. Communicate to provider prescription is requested and necessary so provider can review and send the script
  • As tasks and telephone encounters are completed, all EMR policies and procedures will be followed.
  • Ensure accurate and thorough documentation in chart/EMR after each patient encounter.
  • May be required to participate in a variety of patient care activities in the examination and treatment of patients to include: vital signs, blood draws, medication administration, and cognitive assessments, assisting with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, using standard equipment.
  • May be required to determine, prepare and set up medical supplies, instruments and equipment for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • May be required to obtain accurate information for records, explain procedures from time to time or as necessary.
  • May be required to assist with bio-hazard cleanup (i.e. restroom, waiting area, exam room) following universal precaution/kits.
  • Maintain work area in clean and orderly condition; monitor and ensure appropriate inventory of medical supplies and replenish as required.
  • Maintains liaison with physicians and practice administration to ensure efficient and effective patient care services.
  • Interacts calmly, respectfully and in a friendly manner with other representatives of services at the Dent. Refers patients to proper resources for Dent policies such as billing and or financial support.
  • Assists in clerical duties as needed, functioning as a member of the health care team.
  • Maintains competence through continuing education and in-service training.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
Skills & Experience Necessary:
  • Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university
  • Active NYS license, free and clear of restrictions
  • Strong telephone assessment skills
  • High degree of verbal communication and interpersonal skills to determine needs, provide information, instruct, and provide emotional support in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Strong planning, problem solving, organization, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to address and resolve conflict in a professional manner
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and follow all HIPAA guidelines
  • Must be flexible and professional in all interactions with patients, providers and all staff
  • Neurology experience preferred
  • Previous high volume phone triage experience preferred
  • Good computer skills and ability to learn EMR quickly, preferred
Compensation:
  • Most candidates will start within the first quartile of the pay range
  • Rates are commensurate with experience
