Overview:
Utilizes the nursing process to meet a variety of healthcare needs with ambulatory care as the primary focus. Works with a variety of health care professionals such as Behavioral Care Specialists, Counselors, Therapists, Supervisors, Manager and Directors. Frequent functions guided by nursing protocols. Functions as a team leader as assigned.
Responsibilities:
- Provides direct and indirect nursing care to meet the psychological, psychosocial and emotional needs of the patient.
- Utilizes effective communication skills by demonstrating respect, concern and courtesy in all interpersonal relationships.
- Uses current knowledge to promote a safe environment for providing health care to patients.
- Maintains current professional skills and continues professional growth to enhance the practice of nursing within the program and the image of the organization.
- Adheres to personnel policies to enhance the operation of the health care unit .
- Maintains required annual licensure and credentialing requirements for the nursing personnel of the program.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
- Current, unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state the facility is located.
Minimum Work Experience
- At least one year of RN experience.
- Previous correctional health care environment preferred.

- Basic computer skills.
- Able to work with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel.

- Ability to command the respect and confidence of inmates and staff; and philosophically committed to the objectives of the facility.
- Maintains an active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
FUNCTIONAL DEMANDS
- Ability to pass all required health and other screening tests.
- May be required to work nights, weekend, and holidays.
- On-call duty may be required (available to work on short notice) as per site requirement.

- Adheres to PREA regulations.
- Punctual and dependent for assigned/confirmed shifts.
- Maintains security clearance for the assigned facility.
- Identifies and utilized appropriate channels of communication with supervising staff.
