Position Summary:

This role is a unique role designed to assure on-call dialysis services are provided to ORHC patients by a trained dialysis RN Supervisor / Dialysis RN. The scheduling structure to maintain this acute care coverage allows for the RN to cross-train to other nursing areas within the hospital as RN staff when not required to be “on-call” for the dialysis service.

The RN in this role is responsible for providing nursing care for patients within the setting they are assigned; supervising/providing dialysis treatments or performing RN responsibilities. S/He performs assigned procedures that are within the scope of practice as set forth by the Iowa State Board of Nursing. Regular attendance is an essential function of this job.

Minimum Qualifications:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Demonstrate the ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate age appropriate nursing care per ORHC policy/procedure and by meeting regulatory expectations from the Joint Commission and Center for Medicare/Medicaid.Demonstrate competency in the management of dialysis treatments for patients with kidney failure.

EDUCATION Graduate of a Registered Nursing program; BSN preferred.

EXPERIENCE Have a minimum of 1 year dialysis experience Have a minimum of 1 year clinical nursing

CERTIFICATE/LICENSE Current Iowa Registered Nurse LicenseCurrent BCLS verificationACLS verification within 6 months of hire if covering Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, or Surgical Services. PALS verification within 6 months of hire if covering Emergency Department, Surgical Services, Women Family Center.NRP verification within 6 months of hire if covering Women Family Center.
