Job Summary and Qualifications

The Free Standing Emergency Department (FSED) Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The RN serves as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and models a commitment to the organization's vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance.What you will do in this role:

  • Applies the nursing process to a group of patients. Evaluates outcomes of patient care, consults with other disciplines as required and adjusts the plan of care as necessary to ensure optimal service.
  • Ensure appropriate delivery of patient care for a group of patients according to policy and procedure; assigns and/or delegates patient care assignments to licensed and non-licensed nursing staff, based on acuity, needs of the patient, staff availability and qualifications.
  • Participates and facilitates in the case management process and cost containment for patients.
  • Cooperates with other personnel to achieve Department objectives and maintain good employee relations and collaborative integration of the health care team.
  • Demonstrates accountability for direct patient care and evaluation of patient outcomes.
  • Documents all aspects of patient care efficiently and effectively, utilizing MediTech EMR.
  • Demonstrates professional practice and conduct at all times.
  • Participates in Performance Improvement as appropriate (i.e. data collection, quality control, etc.)
  • Demonstrates ability to interpret patient's EKG and manage EKG monitoring/telemetry.
  • Performs assessments and delivers care in a timely manner to facilitate the timely disposition of the ER patients, considering the acuity of the patients and patient satisfaction.
  • Performs Laboratory Functions at the Emergency Centers as needed

What qualifications you will need:
  • Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas or Multi-State Compact License (Employees with RN Compact License are required to obtain Texas RN License within 90 days of hire date)
  • Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) required, Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
  • BLS, ACLS & PALS (American Red Cross or American Heart Association) are required
  • ENPC within 6 months of hire
  • One (1) year RN ED experience in a hospital and/or FSED
