RN Float works under the supervision of the RN Manager and floats to assigned departments as needed. Integrates RN nursing processes (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation) to provide services and continuity of care for the patient. Utilizes knowledge of basic nursing principles, practices, and ethics to perform duties within the RN Scope of Practice. Has authority and accountability for coordinating pre-admission and post hospital care. May require occasional travel across all SAC Health Clinics. May require use of personal vehicle if Company vehicle is unavailable. Performs other duties as needed.

Schedule: 5 days per week, 8 hours per day, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm | Location: San Bernardino, CA

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DELIVERABLES

  • Effectively utilizes RN scope of practice as it pertains to job functions, including message center, clinical care, employee health, etc.
  • Patient Education - Plans, implements, and evaluates care and educational programs for the patients, families and other health professionals pertaining to specific illness.
  • Resource - Functions as a resource person and providing expertise to clinic staff, physicians, patients, and other departments regarding medical and nursing issues.
  • Clinical Practice - coordinates care by providing a nursing assessment and by performing simple and complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures needed by specific patient population.
  • Documents in the EMR according to established policy. Processes necessary charting and paperwork, while maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Quality Management - Participates in clinic quality improvement designed to improve quality of care in the clinic. Actively works on the development of standards of care and evaluating the quality of care of the clinic.
  • Insurance Authorization - Maintains ongoing knowledge and understanding of current insurance information and regulations affecting the patient and family (i.e., CCS and other payers).
  • Instructs and/or schedules patients regarding tests/ procedures ordered by a physician; assists with authorization; notifies the patient/parent of test results after physician review. Obtains records and radiology/lab studies for new and established patients.
  • Provides high quality of care by adhering to departmental procedures and standards of care. Uses and recommends new methods or processes within his/her practice that improves quality, efficiency and/or effectiveness.
  • Adheres to all organizational/OSHA safety standards on the job. Completes Relias competency testing, compliance training, health/TB screening and renews license/s, certification/s on or before due date.
  • Uses time efficiently to ensure that nursing duties are complete, and in accordance with established departmental procedures and standards.
  • Coordinates and actively participates in the cross training of other team members.
  • Shows initiative by participating in the generation of new ideas that improve quality, efficiency, and effectiveness within the clinic.
  • Respects patients' rights, including confidentiality.
  • Demonstrates positive interpersonal relations when dealing with associates (i.e., director, nurse manager, fellow employee, other departments, and/or outside agencies). Maintains effective communication to medical provider, associates, referring physician/organization, billing/financial staff, and all outside community agency staff. Communication includes patient information updates, problem resolution, billing information, opportunities for improvement and quality of care.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Associate of Science Degree in Nursing required. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum two (2) years of experience as a Registered Nurse. Experience in an outpatient setting preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification: Current and unrestricted California Registered Nurse license required; current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Valid CA Driver's License, valid liability car insurance. Valid Driver's License required at time of hire. As a requirement of this position, you must receive EPIC certification for the module you have been hired into.
  • Essential Technical/Motor Skills: Computer competency; able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; perform basic math functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; compose written material; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; problem solve; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Work Eligibility: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Must not now or in the future require sponsorship for employment visas.
