A Gastrointestinal (GI) Lab Registered Nurse (RN) is a licensed healthcare professional who provides nursing care to patients undergoing gastrointestinal procedures, such as endoscopies, colonoscopies, and biopsies. The GI Lab RN is responsible for ensuring that patients receive safe, effective, and efficient care during these procedures.The following are the key duties and responsibilities of a GI Lab RN:Assessing the needs of patients prior to the procedure and explaining the procedure to them, including any risks and benefits.Administering pre-procedure medications and monitoring the patient's vital signs during the procedure.Assisting the physician during the procedure by handing them instruments, retracting tissue, and providing suctioning, as needed.Monitoring the patient's condition during the procedure and reporting any changes or concerns to the physician.Administering post-procedure medications and monitoring the patient's vital signs during recovery.Educating patients and families about post-procedure care, including instructions for recovery and follow-up care.Collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure that patients receive the highest quality care possible.Maintaining accurate and complete patient records, including pre-procedure assessments, procedure notes, and post-procedure care plans.The ideal candidate for this role should have a current RN license, a Bachelor's degree in Nursing, and a minimum of 2 years of experience working in a GI lab or similar setting. They should also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work well under pressure. Additionally, they should have a strong understanding of gastrointestinal procedures and be knowledgeable about patient care in this specialized area.This is a not full time but contracted travel position.
