Job Description:

A Hematology Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) is a healthcare professional who specializes in the care of patients with blood disorders and cancer. They work closely with hematologists and oncologists to provide comprehensive care to patients throughout their treatment journey. The main responsibilities of a Hematology Oncology RN include: • Assessing patients' health status and vital signs before, during, and after treatment • Administering chemotherapy and other medications as prescribed by the physician • Monitoring patients for adverse reactions to treatment • Educating patients and their families about their diagnosis, treatment options, and potential side effects • Collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care and manage patients' overall health • Keeping accurate and detailed patient records • Providing emotional support and counseling to patients and their families Hematology Oncology RNs work in a variety of settings such as cancer centers, hospitals, and clinics. They may also participate in research studies and provide education and training to other healthcare professionals. A Hematology Oncology RN typically holds a valid nursing license and should have experience in oncology and hematology. They may also hold certifications in oncology, such as the Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) or the Certified Hematology Oncology Nurse (CHON). This is a not full time but contracted travel position.
