Job Description Job description Job Purpose: To deliver high-quality nursing care and services to residents in a rehabilitation and nursing center based on physician-prescribed medical care and treatment orders. The incumbent is responsible for managing medical emergencies, evaluating circumstances, conditions, and resolving them following established procedures and protocols. Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of previous nursing experience. For non-degreed registered nurses, three (3) years of work experience shall serve in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
- Must possess and maintain a valid State of New York Nursing license.

Reports to: Director/Senior Director Job Duties and Responsibilities: The following list outlines the representative tasks performed within this classification, though variations may occur based on the assigned rehabilitation and nursing center.
- Prepare and administer medications according to physician orders and established schedules.
- Implement collaborative coaching and learning approaches to maintain safe clinic environments.
- Monitor and administer treatments for various medical conditions, including diabetes management, gastric tube feedings, inhalations, and clean catheterizations.
- Conduct assessments, including vital signs and condition evaluations.
- Plan and execute procedures for the chronically ill, such as clean catheterizations, nebulization, and gastric feeding tube management.
- Train and monitor center personnel on medical procedures and conditions like diabetes, anaphylaxis, asthma, seizures, and clean catheterization.
- Maintain accurate records, including medication dispensing, incident reports, nursing notes, daily treatments, and interventions.
- Monitor and manage medical supplies, ensuring appropriate supply levels.• Ensure the safety and sanitation of the rehabilitation and nursing center clinic.
- Maintain student/resident medical records and collaborate with the evaluation team as needed.
- Charts and maintains accurate records of activities performed, i.e., medications dispensed, incident reports, nursing notes, daily treatments, and interventions.
- Monitors materials and medications to ensure appropriate supply levels.
- Provide billing information for eligible cases regarding treatment, interventions, and guardian contacts.
- Collaborate with teaching staff for the health and safety of all residents.
- Provide training and education for clinic staff on health, sanitation procedures, and compliance with guidelines.
- Stay current on nursing evidence-based practices.
- Maintain open communication with residents, families, teachers, parents, and administrators.
- Support rehabilitation and nursing center operations, providing coverage during vacancies or emergencies.
- Offer professional development on clinic and medical procedures.
- Assist in updating and maintaining district medical documents.
- Inspect for health-related concerns, such as head lice.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
