An Outpatient Registered Nurse (RN) is a licensed healthcare professional who provides nursing care to patients who are not required to stay overnight in a hospital or other medical facility. This role typically involves the following duties and responsibilities:Assessing patient health and medical history: The Outpatient RN conducts thorough assessments of patients' health conditions and medical histories to ensure they receive the most appropriate care.Administering medications and treatments: The Outpatient RN may be responsible for administering medications and treatments as prescribed by a physician, monitoring patients' responses and adjusting treatments as necessary.Monitoring vital signs: The Outpatient RN continually monitors patients' vital signs such as blood pressure, heart rate, and temperature, and documents any changes in their conditions.Educating patients and families: The Outpatient RN provides patients and their families with information on their medical conditions, treatments, and how to manage their health at home.Collaborating with healthcare team: The Outpatient RN works closely with other healthcare professionals, such as physicians, pharmacists, and physical therapists, to provide comprehensive care to patients.Maintaining patient records: The Outpatient RN is responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of patients' health conditions and treatments, and communicating this information to other healthcare professionals as needed.Providing emotional support: The Outpatient RN provides emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families, helping to alleviate any concerns or anxieties they may have.Requirements for this role typically include a current RN license, a bachelor's degree in nursing, and previous experience in a similar setting.
