Responsibilities for the Flight Nurse include evaluation, coordination and delivery of medical care provided to patients during all phases of transport. Must be familiar with the scope of practice of the flight team and State.
Responsibilities:Clinical Excellence
Provide patient care during all phases of transport, from initial contact until care is relinquished to appropriate team members of the accepting hospital. Delivery of this practice is accomplished by acquiring and maintaining a strong knowledge base in emergency and critical care practice.
Flight Team Member Involvement
Actively participate in pre and post flight debriefings with all members which will include communication specialists or NICU transport team (for NICU transports only). Maintain a mission readiness culture, ensuring restocking of aircraft and bags, clean and operational equipment, timely shift checks, while always demonstrating a safe approach in all environments.
Quality and Accreditation Readiness
Completes flight records and documents which include accurate and timely documentation of the patient condition and care provided according to established standards and guidelines. Maintains licensure, certifications, immunizations, and educational requirements for this position. Is an active participant in regularly scheduled safety, education, quality, and outreach activities. Is an active participant in quality, educational, and patient follow-up activities.
Initial and Ongoing Education
Active participant demonstrating competency in all training, which includes advanced skills and procedures approved by the program Medical Director and/or physician consultants, protocol testing, case reviews, initial training for new medical equipment and/or procedures, clinical rotations, sim lab and lectures. Maintains excellence in knowledge surrounding the use of equipment and supplies associated with the Program.

A professional image will be displayed while representing FlightCare which will include a positive customer service approach, professional and neat appearance, a cooperative/team-oriented working relationships, effective and open communication and utilization of the proper channels for dialogue.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, AND SKILLS:
3 years of ICU/ED experience within the last 5 years is required.
FEMA IS 100, 200, 700, and 800 is required.
Interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups and interact with people at all levels to communicate ideas and concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death.
Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.
Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.
Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).
Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.
Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.
Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.
Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.
Physical Demand Level: Medium. Must be able to occasionally (0?33% of the workday) lift or carry 21?50 lbs., frequently 34?66% of the workday 20 lbs. and or Walk/Stand/Push/Pull of Arm/Leg controls and constantly (67?100% or the workday) 10 lbs.
