Job Title: Summer Day Camp Nurse in Pomona, NY

Department: Camp Settoga

Reports to: Director of Camp Settoga

FLSA Status: exempt

Date: Summer 2025- June 30th through August 15th, 2025

Job Overview:

Summer 2025- Monday-Friday 8:45am-4:30pm most days, with some late nights 11am-6pm. Must attend 2 pre-camp orientation days.

Summary: Camp Settoga nurse is responsible for the care and supervision of all medical services for campers and staff. This care includes looking after ill or injured campers or staff, administering medication, communicating with parents and counselors, organization of medical information, medications and first-aid kits, as well as keeping records of camper visits using our online system, CampDoc. The wellness center is staffed throughout the entire camp day.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in organizing and setting up the Wellness Center
  • Making sure inventory of supplies in the Wellness Center and first-aid kits is
  • supplied and maintained
  • Maintain insurance forms and camper health forms in CampDoc
  • Keep a daily log of camper's office visits in CampDoc
  • Accept and store all prescription and over-the-counter drugs
  • Administer prescription and over-the-counter drugs when necessary
  • Assist in providing a staff orientation
  • Illness and injury management
  • Communication with parents and counselors of camper's illness or injury as needed
  • Be a medical resource that would bridge the gap between basic medical knowledge and emergencies
  • Providing First Aid for: cuts, scrapes and bruises, bee stings, dehydration and sunburn, and more as needed.
  • Must have the ability make decisions and take initiative under pressure
  • Must have good communication skills

Qualifications

  • Licensed as a registered nurse in the state of NY
  • Current CPR and First Aid certifications
  • Experience working with children and youth
  • 21 + years of age
  • Ability to maintain and administer medications
