We are also highly-ranked by Castle Connolly Medical, a healthcare rating company for consumers, among the top 5 leading U.S. medical schools for training doctors.Bargaining Unit:PEFJob Summary:The Department of Ambulatory Care Services at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse Supervisor 1, Adult Infusion. The successful candidate will:The Registered Nurse Supervisor 1 (T&RC) is supervisory level and provides administrative and clinical supervision to lower-level registered nurses and direct care staff; oversees and coordinates nursing services for an assigned unit; and may be involved in teaching and orientation functions.
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of assigned nursing and direct care staff.
  • Direct and review the work of nursing staff; completes performance evacuations; and initiates appropriate counseling and disciplinary action.
  • Identify staff development needs for training on clinical nursing related topics; and evaluates the effectiveness of in-service education and guidance programs.
  • Ensure that staff have met requirements for first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and other agenda-specific required training in concert with nurse educators.
  • Serves as a liaison to community providers, families, hospitals and other healthcare facilities. Maintains established standards if nursing care in accordance with State, Federal and accreditation agency requirements.
  • Make rounds and ensure the maintenance of a safe, sanitary, and therapeutic environment and that individuals' safety, well-being and care needs are met.
  • Inform staff of and ensures that implementation of policies, procedures and trends in nursing practice.
  • Monitor and review nursing documentation, such as progress notes and medication charts, to ensure accuracy and quality; and follows up with nursing staff when needed to resolve discrepancies.
  • Assess the quality of nursing care and assists in the development and implementation of quality control programs for nursing care.
  • Ensures medical inventories are properly maintained and stored.
  • Ensures compliance with State and Federal laws, rules and regulations, including facility policies on restraints, seclusion, levels of Intensive supervision, abuse and incident reporting.
  • Formulate corrective action plans in response to identified regulatory problems and ensures the implementation of such.
  • Participate in the management and administration of nursing services; assists in planning and program development activities; and meets with managers to review, update and ensure the effectiveness of nursing policies, protocols and procedures.
  • Assist in preparing budgets and monitor expenditures; participate on committees and workgroups; and perform the duties of a lower-level Registered Nurse and cover staff assignments, if necessary.
Required Qualifications:
  • Possession of a NYS license and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State; and 3-years of post-licensure acute care clinical nursing experience.
    • A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing can substitute for 1-year of post-licensure clinical nursing experience; and a Master's Degree in Nursing can substitute for 2-years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • OCN certified.
  • 1 to 2 years of oncology infusion, IV and midlines/central lines experience.
Work Schedule:Monday to Friday; 9:00am to 5:00pm (Full-Time)Salary Grade/Rank: SG-22Salary Range: As per civil service guidelines
  • $114,691 to $140,597 based on years of experience and education (includes Location Pay & Geographic Differential) plus shift and/or inconvenience pay of $575 to $5,375, if applicable.
