Bargaining Unit: PEF Job Summary: The Department of Nursing at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse Supervisor 1, Suite D Ambulatory Care Services. The Registered Nurse Supervisor 1 (T&RC) is supervisory level, and provides administrative and clinical supervision to lower-level registered nurses and direct care staff; oversees and coordinates nursing services for an assigned unit; and may be involved in teaching and orientation functions. Illustrative Duties
  • Plan, direct, and supervise nursing services on an assigned unit, including direct supervision of Registered Nurse 1 (T&RC) and other staff.
  • Direct the development and implementation of nursing care plans on a unit.
  • Provide individual care, and function as an educator and nursing services expert.
  • Assess work methods of nursing staff and provide feedback to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of care delivered.
  • Coordinate medical and nursing care needs with other health care providers and departments.
  • Ensure proper functioning of equipment and unit compliance with safety and environmental standards.
  • Monitor nursing care quality standards, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Attend and participate in medical committees to represent nursing staff needs and the individual population, and participate in writing of care standards.
  • Identify staff training needs and collaborate with unit educators to develop and implement educational programs.
  • Develop and implement orientation plans for new employees and participates in staffing decisions.
Required Qualifications:
  • Possession of a license and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State; and 3-years of post-licensure acute care clinical nursing experience.
    • A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing can substitute for 1-year of post-licensure clinical nursing experience; and a Master's Degree in Nursing can substitute for 2-years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience.
Preferred Qualifications:Work Schedule: Monday to Friday; 9:00am to 5:00pm (Full-Time) Salary Grade/Rank: SG22 Salary Range: As per civil service guidelines
  • $114,691 to $140,597 based on years of experience and education (includes Location Pay & Geographic Differential) plus shift and/or inconvenience pay of $575 to $5,375, if applicable.
